So, You Want To Set Up A Gangbang....

If you've ever envisioned a scenario where you find yourself engaging with a series of enthusiastic admirers in succession, you're certainly not the only one. Group sex emerges as a frequently mentioned sexual fantasy, and there is a noticeable surge in interest in gangbangs. In the past year, the viewership of PornHub's "gangbang" category increased by 88%, with women playing a significant role in driving the popularity of this category.
In the realm of group sexual experiences, gangbangs stand apart from threesomes, foursomes, and orgies, which typically involve multiple participants in various roles. In a gangbang, the singular focus is on one individual's body. This person may undergo vaginal or anal penetration, external genital stimulation, or other consensual and pre-negotiated sexual acts from multiple partners in succession.

The minimum number of participants required for a gangbang is three, but enthusiasts like porn performer and filmmaker Chelsea Poe often prefer a larger gathering. Poe humorously expressed her perspective, stating, "I used to be a bit snobbish about it and say, 'If you can all fit comfortably in an UberX, then it's not a gangbang.'"

While mainstream gangbang porn commonly features one cisgender woman with multiple cisgender men, it's crucial to note that this doesn't represent the entirety of gangbang scenarios, whether on or off-screen. Chelsea Poe, for instance, takes pride in creating gangbang content as a trans woman, emphasizing that her work speaks directly to her sexuality and resonates with many women, both cis and trans.
Sexologist Marla Renee Stewart sheds light on the motivations behind people's gangbang fantasies. Those who envision themselves as the central recipient in a gangbang are often aroused by the idea of being the focal point of sexual attention, enjoying extensive stimulation, the potential for multiple orgasms, or engaging with a diverse group of individuals simultaneously. On the other hand, those fantasizing about being part of the "gang" may be drawn to voyeurism (watching others engage in sexual acts) or exhibitionism (being observed in a sexual context). For some, gangbangs represent a consensual power exchange where the recipient is willingly "taken" or "used" by the other participants.

Clarify Your Vision

To ensure the optimal experience, active involvement of the central person in the gangbang is crucial, particularly during the initial planning stages. It begins with selecting the desired atmosphere for the gangbang. Questions arise about whether the person wants to feel worshipped, cherished, or dominated, and if there are specific sexual acts to be included or ruled out. Considerations also extend to the potential use of sex toys, restraints, or other kinky tools. Stewart suggests exploring local sex clubs or dungeons to observe or participate in a gangbang, providing insight into what to expect. If that option is unavailable, watching gangbang porn or experimenting with gangbang-related dirty talk or role play with a partner using multiple dildos can serve as research. Ultimately, this exploration may either fuel enthusiasm for the planning stage or reveal that gangbang fantasies are best kept within the realm of personal fantasies.

Choose Your Players

For the ideal gangbang experience, it's preferable to have a group of trusted friends or partners who are enthusiastic about collectively engaging in the experience. If this is not feasible, the responsibility of finding and vetting participants falls on you, either individually or with the assistance of a coordinator. Alternatively, you can delegate the planning to a willing friend or partner, but it's essential to communicate your desires, boundaries, and vetting criteria with the designated coordinator beforehand.

Sexologist Stewart recommends a vetting method where you or at least one trusted participant knows every individual involved. While this approach may not guarantee a completely creep-free environment, it is considered safer than assembling a group of strangers from the internet. Another suggestion is to appoint a "pleasure proxy," a non-participant who oversees the gangbang and intervenes if any boundaries are crossed. While the gangbang coordinator or co-coordinator can fulfill this role, it's important to choose someone else if they plan to participate in the event, as effective supervision can be challenging when actively involved.

If you're organizing a gangbang in a shared and designated kink space, such as a dungeon, swinger's club, or play party, you might find it easier to gather willing participants. In these environments, you'll be surrounded by like-minded individuals who may be open to participating. Since some of these spaces vet members in advance, you or your coordinator might feel more at ease approaching people and proposing the idea of a gangbang. It's crucial to understand the specific vetting protocol of the space to determine if additional layers of protection are necessary.

Desires and Bounderies

Stewart emphasizes the importance of establishing rules and regulations before a gangbang, particularly with regard to the safety of the recipient. This involves addressing crucial considerations, such as whether STI or COVID testing is required beforehand and whether participants should use safer sex barriers. Delving into the overall vibe of the gangbang is essential as well, exploring preferences for touch and clarifying whether the focus is on engaging with multiple partners simultaneously or taking on one person at a time. These details are crucial for initiating the consent conversation, allowing participants to make informed decisions based on their desires and expectations.

Communication about participants' needs is equally vital. Checking for latex allergies, lube allergies, or food allergies (if snacks are provided) is essential. Additionally, inquiring about any STI or COVID testing requests from participants helps create a safer environment. To ensure everyone feels secure and at ease upon arrival, these conversations should take place well in advance—whether it be hours, days, or even weeks before the gangbang. This proactive approach is key to establishing a consensual and comfortable atmosphere for all involved.

Ghosting and How To Handle It

The disappointing yet common last minute cancellations will put a damper on any gangbang scenario.  Anonymous says "we usually charge a fee to be paid prior to attending. This covers the cost of the hotel, snacks, condoms, etc".  During our survey, 8 out of 10 men who cancelled said that they were shy, nervous of who else was going to be there, they felt pressured to perform their best and they feared ridicule from others whether it was how fast they climaxed or the size of their penis compared to others. The best thing in this situation is to ensure the attendance in advance that it is a safe space of all sorts of body types and they are encouraged to speak about their doubts.

Let The Games Begin!

On the day of your gangbang, make sure you’re fed, hydrated, and—if you’re planning to receive anal penetration—have completed any anal prep within an appropriate time frame. You should also take some time to sit quietly and ground yourself. “Get in touch with your body and mind, because [a gangbang] is an extreme thing to put your body through,” Poe says.

Don’t forget to prepare the space, too, or make sure your coordinator has that covered. Whether you’re hosting a gangbang in a sex club, a dungeon, a hotel room, or your home, you should have snacks, water, and safer sex supplies available, and when your guests arrive, put on some music to set the mood.

Practice aftercare

Once your sex marathon has reached its scheduled or natural conclusion, make time for aftercare, a term for how partners support each other after an intense kink or sexual experience. Aftercare might involve cuddling, sharing water and snacks, or taking space from other participants before you debrief with the group.

“Reflecting on the experience together can help you come down from the high of sexual energy,” Stewart says. “And you want to make sure you rest over the next day or two so your hole can recover from all the action.” Don’t forget to clean up after yourselves, too.

Your first gangbang might not look like a perfectly orchestrated, 30-person porn scene—that’s OK, as long as you and your participants are having fun!
